Thermal Engineer
📍Hybrid 💰€4.500 – €5.700 🎯 R&D
About BlueHeart Energy
BlueHeart Energy was founded in 2016 as a deep-tech company that has developed a new sustainable thermoacoustics technology to radically improve the performance of heat pumps, enabling them to evolve from being the best solution in the market to becoming the perfect solution. Our technology is a disruptive approach to generate heat and cold, with potential to revolutionize the whole industry.
With our 'Blue Heart', heat pumps turn into affordable, silent and flexible devices, capable of working with wide temperature ranges suitable for both new and existing houses. Importantly, BlueHeart doesn’t require any refrigerants and doesn’t generate any CO2 emissions.
About the Role
As a Thermal Engineer at BlueHeart Energy, you will be the company’s heat transfer expert. You will drive the thermal design and management strategy for the overall heat engine and relevant components. Your mission will be to design heat exchangers with optimal thermal and hydraulic performance, to minimize heat-related losses, and to ensure optimal temperature of the machine throughout operation.
What You'll do
Lead all aspects of thermal design and management for the product
Design, model, and simulate heat exchangers and thermal systems using MATLAB and CFD tools (preferably ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL)
Perform manual calculations and software analyses (CFD, FEA, Finite Difference) to estimate heat leaks, temperature profiles, and thermal deformation
Validate models through bench and prototype testing, analyzing results to refine designs
Design other thermal subsystems to manage heat within the unit
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support the R&D group with advanced thermal analyses
You’ll join a diverse R&D team of five engineers, one thermal engineer, and several interns, led by the R&D Manager. English is our working language.
What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics, with specialization in thermal/heat transfer
Minimum 3 years in thermal analysis, preferably with heat exchangers
Perform CFD and FEA modeling (ANSYS/COMSOL)
Estimate heat transfer coefficients and heat flows, temperature profiles, and thermal distortion using both manual calculations and simulations
Validate models through experimental testing
Apply flow related calculations (e.g., pressure drop, safety valve sizing, helium leakage)
Familiarity with heat exchangers, regenerators, and acoustics is an advantage
Strong English skills (spoken and written)
Goal oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a startup environment
What We Offer
Salary range between €4.500 - €5.700 gross per month depending on experience
Opportunity to acquire ESOP, directly linked to company value creation and your performance
25 vacation days
Hybrid work arrangement supporting autonomy and work–life balance
Tailored learning and development opportunities to support your continued growth
Access to OpenUp, because we prioritize mental well-being
Participation in our pension scheme with employer contribution
Commuting allowance, in line with our travel policy
